Wands - tutorial by majann Wands - tutorial by majann
A long promised Wand-tutorial.
I'm REALLY sorry it has taken me so long, but here it is!
I hope you'll try it out, and make your own wands!

We (:iconmajann: & :iconsigrunelise:) used about one hour, making eight wands this evening, including the time the glue got cold, and the paint dried completely.

ENJOY - and please do share with me, if you make your own - I'd love to se your wands!

Wands - tutorial by *majann is a very clever, very inexpensive way of creating a great prop for all those budding wizards and witches! ( Suggested by FreakieGeekie and Featured by Elandria )

I really love this tutoral. It's simple, to the point, and easy to follow. The pictures are great, and it's easy to see what's going on. My kids and I spent the afternoon making these and we had a lot of fun. We hit the Dollar Store for all of the supplies and I spent less than $3. I already had the acrylic paint, but if I had to buy it I could probably find a way to get it for another few bucks. $5 total for something that keeps my kids busy AND happy? Sold! Thank you so much and please keep up the good work.

This is freaking brilliant! I'm having a birthday party for Harry in July, and I wanted to do wands. I made some for another party years ago, but just used dowel rods. I planned to do that again, but was not looking forward to all the sanding involved. This is SO much cooler (and cheaper & faster!).

I'm having a 'wand choosing' ceremony at the party, and with these babies, I don't think anyone will walk away from that disappointed.

I made my first 2 today, they are awesome... as are YOU! Now I just need 12 more chopsticks!!

Thanks again! :)

this is a really awesome tutorial! I do have a question though: is it alright to use this method to make wands for sale?

This tutorial blew my mind. Would like you to know that my family looked over my shoulder and gawked at it. We've already planned a date in the summer when we're going to make them, supplied with water melon or maybe some ice cream.

Could I ask, where you got your chop sticks? What would be the best place to get them? I have some old ones but they look thin and cheap. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Ive found wood putty is a better alternative to hot glue. you can shape it easier, with your fingers, and once it drys completely you can sand and work it as if it was actual wood. Plus paint designed for wood, and stains, works well on it .

Hi! I LOVE the tutorial, but when i used my hot glue gun, i had only 4 seconds to mold it :( Do you have any suggestions on how to get it like the ninth picture? They were really good!

This was excellent!! I did this with my kids and they LOVED them. We actually let some of the bead on top show on some of them and it looked cool. We also used crackle paint on them and that turned out cool too!

Thanks for this tutorial!!

I saw this in a "do it yourself" website somewhere.
And now I've found the one who've created it! Very nice.

I have 2 wands almost finished, but I need more practice.

Thank you for the tutorial!

... how did you do that in an hour? O.o

I made 15 wands - some of them are pretty creepy xD - and it took me about 8 hours ^^

Love it, though - I've been wanting to try this for more than a year and I finally took the time :D
